arts&traditions

The main themes of the Partnership are to develop pupils' awareness of local, national and European traditions and cultures through the medium of the Arts and to utilize the Arts across the curriculum. The Partnership will bring about both a collaborative curriculum development programme created, promoted and shared by the Partner Institutions and which has wide cross-cultural parameters and a collaborative continuing professional development programme (CPD) in the Arts for the staffs of Partner Schools and the University which emphasizes wide parameters of cross-cultural international co-operation.

Meetings

During the three year project we had 12 fantastic meetings in 12 different countries. During these meetings we were taught a traditional art technique or tradition specific to each country which we were then able to share with colleagues and children on return to our home countries. The sharing of art techniques and traditions enabled us to promote an understanding and appreciation for the artistic and cultural world we live in. We were also able to enhance the children’s experiences when taking part in special days celebrating each country by including an activity specific to that country. For example when learning about Romania the children were able to learn a Romanian dance and also learn the painting on glass technique taught to the teachers on the visit to their country. This website will give tutorials for each of the techniques or dances learned in each country and some ideas of how the schools in different countries carried out those activities and where necessary, made adaptations to make them more suited to their specific needs.
